Thank you for your interest in the Welwyn Garden City Society.

We endeavour to monitor developments and changes in our Garden City and, where it is appropriate, we comment on aspects and details of the proposals – thereby contributing a non-political and non-commercial viewpoint to what otherwise may be a flawed proposal.

We also seek to monitor planning applications to ensure that these follow the planning authority’s own strategies, guidelines and policies, with the objective that outcomes should be, so far as possible, in keeping with the architecture and feeling of the town.

The Society also watches the way the town is maintained, and from time to time we raise issues with either the County or the  Borough authorities. The issues we tackle often get overlooked by political parties, while residents themselves can feel that such matters are too big for single individuals to pursue.

We collaborate with and support local groups and residents who want to improve aspects of our beautiful town for the good of all.  From time to time we hold public meetings when this is felt to be appropriate.
